After NATS staff shortages delayed 38 flights by up to 1 hour on Wednesday (16 July), unfairly interrupting the travel plans of over 7,000 customers overflying the UK, Ryanair, the UK's No.1 low-cost airline, called on NATS CEO Martin Rolfe to resign.
To guarantee that ATCs are properly staffed, Ryanair has long advocated for ATC reform. However, in the UK, ATC delays are becoming worse as a result of persistent NATS mismanagement and staff shortages. In order to prevent airlines and passengers from experiencing more avoidable ATC delays due to NATS's ongoing mismanagement and staff shortages, Ryanair urges all passengers to visit the "Air Traffic Control Ruined Your Flight" webpage and demand that Transport Minister Heidi Alexander fire Martin Rolfe and reform NATS's hopeless ATC service.

The fact that UK travellers, many of whom are taking summer vacations with little children, are experiencing needless ATC delays as a result of yet another NATS system malfunction and lack of readiness is totally intolerable. The disturbances at ATC today serve as more evidence that Martin Rolfe, the overpaid CEO of NATS, is unfit for his position and ought to resign so that someone qualified can take over.
According to a Ryanair representative:
With yet another ATC system failure on Monday, July 14, resulting in over 50 Ryanair flight delays and unjustly interfering with over 10,000 of our passengers going to and from Stansted Airport, it is intolerable that passengers continue to experience ATC delays as a result of Martin Rolfe's poor management of NATS.

In order to prevent airlines and passengers from experiencing any more avoidable ATC delays due to NATS's poor management, UK Transport Minister Heidi Alexander must act quickly to fire Martin Rolfe and overhaul the agency's terrible ATC operation.
