The incident is said to have taken place late in the evening, after the crew had checked in for an overnight rest. According to multiple witnesses, the pilot appeared visibly drunk and unsteady on his feet as he strolled through the hotel’s public bar with no clothing at all. Guests described a mix of shock and disbelief, with some initially assuming it was part of a stag party prank—until they realised the man was a uniformed airline pilot earlier that day.
Hotel staff reportedly tried to quietly intervene, urging him to return to his room, but the pilot allegedly ignored repeated requests and continued moving between tables, speaking incoherently. Several guests took out their phones to record the encounter, and the footage has since been shared widely online, drawing public outrage.
Management eventually contacted local authorities, who arrived to remove the pilot from the premises. It is understood that no criminal charges have yet been filed, but easyJet acted swiftly, confirming the pilot has been removed from flying duties pending the outcome of a thorough internal investigation.
In a statement, the airline stressed:
“easyJet takes the safety, professionalism, and conduct of its crew extremely seriously. We are aware of the incident involving one of our pilots during a layover and have suspended them while we investigate. Such behaviour is unacceptable and does not reflect the standards we demand from our staff.”

The episode has reignited discussion around pilot behaviour and responsibility while off duty, particularly during layovers. Aviation safety advocates say incidents like this risk damaging public trust, and some are calling for tighter alcohol consumption rules and wellness checks for crew members before flights.
